According to police, SP candidate had sought permission to organise his roadshaw after evening on Monday, but despite his request being turned down by police officials, he continued with the event till late in the night.
"Rawat had sought permission from Masuri police to carry out his roadshow at night on Monday, but we turned down his request. Despite this, the SP candidate cotinued with his roadshow till 9.50 PM.
A case was registered at Masuri police station last night, he said adding that a probe is on.
"We have also informed the electoral officials about the matter," the official said.
Actor-turned-politician and Congress candidate Raj Babbar and AAP candidate Shazia Ilmi have also been booked for violating the model code of conduct.
