BSP today accused Uttar Pradesh's ruling Samajwadi Party of "wrongly making claims" over projects initiated by the previous government and taking credit for it.
"The claims of development by the Akhilesh Yadav government are hollow...A majority of projects, which they are laying claim to, are the ones conceptualised by the previous BSP government," the party's General Secretary Satish Chandra Misra said.
"The Lucknow Metro project was planned in 2008 by the then BSP government and a pact was reached between DMRC and Lucknow Development Authority in February that year," he said, adding "its approval was given in October and a detailed project report was sent to the Centre in July 2011".
"The Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Gomti riverfront scheme, Lalitpur power plant were initiated during the BSP rule and the SP government has merely changed the names and claiming those as their own," Misra claimed.
He also alleged that the SP government is playing a "communal game along with BJP" and "goondas and mafias are ruling the roost while common people were facing hardships".
