"Complying with the order of national general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav, Chief Minister and state party president Akhilesh Yadav has dissolved various cells like Samajwadi Brahmin Sabha, Bauddhik Sabha and Vyapaar Mandal," state spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said in a statement.
When asked why such a step was taken, Chaudhary said the party constitution allowed only 14 cells with 'Samajwadi' prefix and hence the rest were dissolved.
The order comes a few days after the Allahabad High Court banned caste-based rallies in Uttar Pradesh.
