"To hide its mistakes and failures, SP government is hell-bent on taking one-sided legal action," leader of BSP Legislature Party Swami Prasad Maurya told reporters here.
BSP MLA from Charthawal, Noor Saleem Rana, was arrested yesterday from Muzaffarnagar for allegedly inciting violence.
Referring to the August 30 meeting in Muzaffarnagar, the BSP leader said that people, cutting across community and party lines, had participated in it.
"Other than BSP leaders, the meeting was also attended by Congress and SP men...Then why action was not taken against them," Maurya said.

"The arrest of party MLA Noor Saleem Rana is out of political vendetta and BSP strongly condemns it," the BSP leader said.
Law is equal for all and there must be no discrimination in legal action, he said.
Maurya alleged that SP government was already in the dock and indication towards a senior cabinet minister in a TV sting operation has "exposed its involvement" in the riots.
He demanded that the government should ensure rehabilitation of the people displaced due to the violence.
Maurya alleged that SP and BJP were trying to divide two communities in different camps for their political gains.
