A Samajwadi Party MLC was booked while four other party members were arrested here for allegedly inaugurating an elevated road "unlawfully", police said today.
The action was taken after a complaint was filed by Ghaziabad development authority (GDA), they said.
Vice chairperson of the GDA and District Magistrate Ritu Maheswari said that MLC Rakesh Yadav and other functionaries took law in their hands. The inauguration of the elevated road is unacceptable. The road will be opened for public after formal ceremony.
They were inaugurating the elevated road unlawfully, which was supposed to be done by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, she said.
SHO Sihani Gate Police Station Vinod Pandey said that an FIR has been lodged against MLC Rakesh Yadav. Four SP workers were arrested in the connection.
Meanwhile, Yadav claimed that this project began in SP's regime and the BJP was only trying to add a feather in its cap.
