SP MP will not seek party ticket to contest 2014 LS polls

Samajwadi Party MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh will not seek SP ticket to contest the 2014 Lok Sabha polls from his Kaiserganj seat, his close aides said, amid speculation that he is re-joining BJP.
Singh will not seek SP ticket to contest Lok Sabha polls from his constituency, sources close to the MP said here.
The SP MP is said to be in touch with BJP and is likely to join the party during November 8 rally of party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in Bahraich.
He has apprised SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav of his decision, the sources said.
The MP started his political career by winning Gonda Lok Sabha seat in 1991 on BJP ticket.
In 1996, Singh was lodged in Delhi's Tihar jail under Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (prevention) Act (TADA). His wife Ketki Singh was then given BJP ticket and she had won from Gonda seat.

Singh contested 1998 Lok Sabha polls on BJP ticket but was defeated. He later won in 1999 from the same party and seat.
In 2004, Singh shifted his seat to Balrampur and won Lok Sabha polls on BJP ticket.
He defected to Samajwadi Party before 2009 Lok Sabha polls and won from Kaiserganj seat on SP ticket.
