The Samajwadi Party is aiming to play a decisive role in the event of formation of a third front government after the elections, party sources said.
"The third front will get a majority. It will be formed after the elections," SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav told a press conference on the eve of the national executive meet.
The SP, which has succeeded in catapulting itself to power in UP in 2012 assembly elections, has set a target of winning at least 60 out of 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
"The third front is to be formed after the elections. The SP will take an initiative in this regard after seeing its position in the Lok Sabha polls," Mulayam told the press meet.

The meet will adopt economic and political resolutions flaying "anti-people policies of the Congress-led UPA regime", party leaders said.
"Price rise and corruption (in the UPA government) will certainly be our point of discussion," Mulayam said.
The party has already made an entry into Karnataka and a few other states, they said adding Akhilesh Yadav had already toured Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and discussed the strategy with local leaders.
Keeping party's Muslim vote back intact will also be discussed at the meeting, the sources said.
