Space tech application necessity in Nagaland : Par Secy

Nagaland's Parliamentary Secretary Planning & Coordination, Evaluation and Taxes, Neiba Kronu today said that space technology application has become a necessity.
Accuracy of all forms of data collected for planning and governance, services of Geospatial Information System (GIS) centre is highly required, he said during Nagaland State Level Meet on "Promoting use of Space Technology and Application in Governance and Development" at Capital Convention Centre here.
Kronu commented that in the past due to the unresolved Naga political issue, development activities in the state have been slightly hampered, but the present younger Naga generations have learnt to utilise the modern technologies and move forward to compete with the rest of the world.
Expressing that besides providing better health and education in the remote areas, space services can be used for checking crime, he said efforts must begin by increasing the awareness of the benefits of space technology towards the benefit of the people.
He also maintained that the state government has been trying to bring in investors for various development activities but they have a second thought after receiving the manually provided data.
Dr. M Paul from the Department of Space, ISRO, Government of India, said that State level meet in Nagaland is the fifth in the country and second for North East region.
Delivering the keynote address, Project Director of Nagaland GIS and Remote Sensing Centre, Mhathung Kithan said appropriate technology investments and capacity building are pre-requisite for growth and progress of any state or nation.
The state level meet is being organised by Nagaland GIS & Remote Sensing Centre in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation and North East Space Application Centre.
