Spare one day a month to clean surroundings: Naidu to people

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu today urged people of the state to spend at least one day every month to clean their neighborhood.
Naidu, while inaugurating the Swachh Andhra Pradesh programme here said, in countries like Japan and Singapore, people are very well aware about the importance of hygiene and cleanliness, which is very much lacking in India.
Naidu urged people to maintain cleanliness and follow environmental ethics as a part of Swachh Andhra Pradesh.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister said his government has taken up on priority basis the work to create electricity from waste, which was already being done in many towns of Andhra Pradesh.
"Twelve alternate power plants are being launched in Andhra Pradesh, which will consume 77 per cent of the solid waste generated across the state," he said.
Before launching this event, Naidu paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 146th birth anniversary at his statue at Jinnah Tower in the city.
On the occasion, he said everybody should follow Gandhiji's path, who believed in truth, discipline and cleanliness.
Naidu also inaugurated a real estate expo organised by Apreda (Andhra Pradesh Real Estate Developers' Association) in Guntur.
