Special efforts to promote tourism in the state: Punjab govt

Punjab forest minister Chunni Lal Bhagat today said the state government is taking special initiatives to promote tourism in the state.
Punjab government has decided to develop its wetlands including Harike Pattan, Ropar, Keshopur, Nangal, Kanjli and Ranjit Sagar Dam as international tourism centres to attract tourists from across the world, he said at an international conference on tourism here.
"Under the mission, Eco-Tourism Punjab has launched a special campaign to preserve natural water resources and wildlife for expansion of tourism industry in the state," he said.
Secretary, Tourism department, Raji P Srivastava said tourism department would launch a sustained drive in association with the forest department to conserve the state's natural heritage.
Chief Wildlife Conservator H S Gujral said Punjab was contemplating a plan to develop its zoos.
