The Haryana government has constituted Special Juvenile Police Unit in each district under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police or Assistant Commissioner of Police, the state assembly was informed today.
Haryana Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ram Bilas Sharma informed this to the House while replying on behalf of the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to a question raised by BJP MLA Prem Lata in the assembly.
The step was taken as state government was committed towards ensuring security and safety of its residents, especially children, he said.
The state government has taken various steps to ensure safety of children, he said.
He said 3,410 children including 1,628 boys and 1,782 girls went missing during the last two years. Of these, he added, 1,144 boys and 1,217 girls were traced.

Sharma said the National Informatics Centre had developed a national portal -- Track the Missing Child -- in which data of not only of those missing, but also of traced or found was being maintained properly.
The police department is also using this portal and all entries are being made regarding missing and found children and this is very helpful for tracking the missing children, he added.
The minister said the standard operating procedure (SOP) envisages assisting the police, child welfare committee and juvenile justice board in dealing with the cases of missing and found or recovered children.
