Haryana will soon have special police squads in each district to check the growing cases of cattle smuggling in the state, a police spokesman said today.
Sharing the details, the spokesman added that these squads will be headed by an inspector and consist of a sub-inspector and an assistant sub-inspector each along with two head constables and twelve constables.
Two vehicles would be provided to each squad, the spokesman added.
"As some instances of cow smugglers (using guns) have been reported in the past, these squads will be well-trained to tackle such an eventuality.
"The name and mobile phone number of the squad in-charge would be publicised so that people can report incidents of cow smuggling," he said.
Range Inspectors General or Commissioners of Police would monitor the performance of these squads and submit a joint report on all districts in their jurisdiction to the headquarters on a fortnightly basis, he added.
