The stamp, developed and designed by the postal department, depicts three armed ITBP commandos donning their camouflage white and grey fatigues with the icy Himalayan peaks in the background.

The special stamp is embossed on a Rs 5 ticket.

Speaking on the occasion, Pilot, the Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, congratulated ITBP for rendering various internal and external security duties over the years.

"The department of Posts is proud and happy to release this stamp which signifies the glory and dedication of this central police force in defending the country," Pilot said during the function at ITBP headquarters.

The Minister was accompanied by ITBP chief Ranjit Sinha and other senior paramilitary officials during the event.

Raised in 1962 in the wake of Chinese aggression, The Indo-Tibetan Border Police guards the 3,488-km-long Sino-Indian frontier, besides rendering a host of internal security duties including anti-Maoist operations.
