Speculation over Jadavpur University Pro-VC's resignation

Even as Jadavpur University students are demanding resignation of the Vice-Chancellor over police crackdown on the campus, speculation was rife today that Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Siddhartha Datta has resigned.
University officials neither confirm nor deny the rumour about Professor Dutta's resignation.
When contacted, JU registrar Dr Pradip Kumar Ghosh told PTI, "I can neither deny nor confirm this matter. I have no information on whether he has resigned or not. If there is resignation by the VC or Pro-VC, they send their letters to the Chancellor."
West Bengal Governor K N Tripathi, who is the Chancellor of the university, said, "I have not received anything till now."

Datta himself could not be reached as his phone remained switched off.
