Nayan Desai and her daughter in law Dipa died on the spot at Tilamol village, 60 kms away from here.
Police said the truck was speeding and lost control before crushing both the women to death while a child who was on the scooter with them, suffered injuries.
The situation turned tense in the village after the accident wherein the villagers demanded action against the truck driver, who fled away from the spot, police said.
Quepem police who arrived at the scene managed to control the crowd which had threatened to block the entire mining transport in a protest.
