Spicejet challenges trial court order on its former pilot
Press Trust of India New Delhi Low cost airline Spicejet has moved the Delhi High Court challenging a trial court order which had held the company to be vindictive against its former pilot by forcing him to resign and then seeking reimbursement of over Rs 17 lakh as cost incurred by it in training him.
Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw issued a notice and sought a response from the former pilot by October 7 on the appeal filed by the airline.
Spicejet has challenged last year's order of the trial court which had dismissed its suit against its former pilot for reimbursement of Rs 17 lakh as cost incurred by it in training him after he quit from the service of the airlines before the five-year lock-in period.
The carrier has in its petition, filed through advocate Meghna Sankhla, said the trial court had erred in holding the airline as being "vindictive" and travelled beyond proceedings which were initiated to recover the cheque amount.
