Spices spurt on heavy demand

Ginger bleached also gained on good retail offtake.

Copra Rajapur Mumbai shot up by Rs 400 per quintal to Rs 6,800 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 6,400 and Copra Edible Mumbai moved up by Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 4,700 from Rs 4,650.

Copra Office Alapuzha rose by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 3,950 from yesterday's closing of Rs 3,850 and Copra office Kozhikode advanced by Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 3,825 from Rs 3,775.

Ginger bleached went up by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 90 from Rs 85 previously.

The following are today's closing rates in rupees with previous rates in brackets:

Black pepper (per kg) 400/430 (400/430), ginger bleached (per kg) 90 (85), ginger unbleached (per kg) 100 (100), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 3,950 (3,850), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 3,825 (3,775), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 6,800 (6,400) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 4,700 (4,650).
