Sony Pictures has announced that it will release its third and fourth 'Amazing Spider-Man' movies on June 10, 2016 and 2018.
A threequel was always in the pipeline but the announcement of a fourth film means that the superhero will enjoy a longer stint at the box office.
The sequel of the rebook will see Andrew Garfield return in the role of Peter Parker. The film is currently in production in New York and releases on May 2, 2014, the Hollywood Reporter said.
"Spider-Man is our most important, most successful, and most beloved franchise so we're thrilled that we are in a position to lock in these prime release dates over the next five years," said Sony Pictures vice chairman Jeff Blake.
Superheros are doing well at the box office with the latest being Superman movie 'Man of Steel'. The film has earned USD 200 million worldwide since its release last Friday.
