Jim Carrey said he regretted turning down Oscar winner Spike Jonze as director of his film "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls".
The 55-year-old actor teased the details while discussing the documentary "Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond", that chronicles his four-month transformation into the late comic Andy Kaufman for the 1999 biopic "Man on the Moon", reported Entertainment Weekly.
Carrey said, "I've been wanting to do something with Spike forever. I was stupid enough to turn him down to direct 'Ace 2', because I had no idea who he was.
"And he came in and pitched all kinds of s-, and he was about to take over the world and I didn't know it. I was like, 'I don't know, this guy's new.' And I've been kicking myself ever since, (sic)."
Meanwhile, Netflix has snagged worldwide rights to "Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond".
