Spitting in hospital building and premises may soon attract a penalty.
During his visit to the Lok Nayak hospital today, Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung said hospital authorities would be empowered to fine people for littering inside the hospital.
"The issue was raised with the medical superintendent of the hospital who spoke about difficulties in maintaining the corridors because of spitting on the corners by the visitors.
"In order to control this problem, he requested that the hospital authorities should be empowered to penalize such visitors. The Lt. Governor assured that this issue would be looked into," LG House official said today.
Jung also appealed to the public not to spit on walls and help hospital authorities in keeping and maintaining hospital premises neat and clean.
Jung also visited the 500 bed surgery block and directed the authorities to provide air-conditioning in the wards instead of coolers for faster recovery of the surgery patients.
He asked the medical superitendent to change the old furniture in the wards to give it a modern look. He said that there should not be any compromise on quality of service being provided.
He also appreciated the seating and queue management in the OPD area which has improved drastically.
