Spl docu film to mark 70 years of Indo-Russia diplomatic ties

The Ministry of External Affairs is working on production of a documentary film to mark 70 years of Indo-Russia diplomatic ties and has sought archival photographs and video clips from that country for the project.
"We are in the process of making a film to commemorate the 70th anniversary, and we would like to take this opportunity to request the Russian side to share with us archival material, like old photographs and video clips," a senior MEA official today said.
The film would be screened on April 13, the day the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1947.
He was speaking during a session held here as part of the first-ever India-Russia Media Roundtable hosted by the Ministry of External Affairs.

Celebrations are lined up in India and Russia to mark the occasion by both the sides. Some of the events have already taken place in Delhi and the roundtable is in that series.
The event comes ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to St Petersburg in June to attend St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), where India has been invited as a 'Guest Country', and the two sides are working on the "bilateral aspect" of the visit.

India and Russia enjoy strong people-to-people ties and music, art and culture has played a significant role in strengthening the ties over the seven decades.

Russia's Deputy Minister of Telecom and Mass Communication Alexey Volin said, "We can do a lot more in areas of archives and other media content."
He also underlined the need to extend cooperation in the segments of music, art, culture, tourism and sports through media.
"Several events would be held in both India and Russia to mark completion of 70 years of our ties. There would be exhibitions, bilateral conferences, exchange of congratulatory messages between the two countries at high-level.
"Commemorative articles will be written by President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in major dailies too. Besides, a special stamp would also be released," Senior Cousellor at the Russian Embassy, Sergey V Karmalito, had earlier said.

A special commemorative volume, a photo album, are also being planned, he said.
The Indian Embassy in Russia has also lined up special events in the country as part of 'Namaste Russia'.
