Police said S Manikandan had hit an old woman while riding his bike at Achampathu on September 29. A case had been registered and investigations were going on. The SSI had already demanded and received a bribe of Rs 1000 to close the case and had demanded another Rs.1500 from him, they said.
On a complaint the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti corruption personnel registered a case and set a trap to arrest the SSI. He was nabbed after he received the chemically smeared currency notes from the youth, they said.
