Spl Summary Revision 2015: Over 20 lakh applications received

A total number of 20,68,420 applications have been received during the Special Summary Revision 2015, Chief Electoral Officer for Tamil Nadu Sandeep Saxena said today.
Of the total, 16,28,600 were for inclusion, 225 for inclusion of overseas electors, 42,832 for deletion and 2,86,208 were for correction of entries, he said in a statement.
Another 1,10,555 applications were for transposition of entries, he said.
"The field verification of these applications is under process. To ensure error-free rolls, de-duplication process is being undertaken. After the due process of field verification, enquiry, de-duplication exercise, etc., the final electoral rolls will be published on January 5, 2015," he said.
As per the directions of the Election Commission of India, the draft rolls under the Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls, 2015 were published on October 15 this year. Claims and objections were received from between October 15 and November 10.
As per the draft electoral rolls of Special Summary Revision, 2015, the total electorate in Tamil Nadu was 5,48,70,296 (Male - 2,74,20,556 ; Female - 2,74,46,615 and Third Gender 3125).
