Sporadic rains in Himachal, trapped pilgrim dies in landslide

Sporadic rains occurred in some places in Himachal Pradesh even as a pilgrim trapped due to a landslide died while three others were rescued.
One person, identified as Vikas, a resident of Haryana, who was trapped at Ganesh Park in the higher hills died following a massive landslide while three others accompanying him were rescued.
The police received information about these Kinner Kailash pilgrims and rescue operations were launched.
A helicopter was sent to the spot but it could not land due to bad weather and hostile terrain and operations had to be conducted manually, police said.
The pilgrims also sustained injuries due to landslide and took shelter in cave and informed the police.
The Kinner Kailash peak is located at an altitude of 24,000 feet and the route is perilous.

Meanwhile sporadic rains occurred at some places in Himachal as Naina Devi with 120 mm rains was wettest in the region while Una and Bilaspur received 28 mm and 27 mm rains , followed by Sundernagar 20 mm, Jubbal 17 mm, Dehra Gopipur 16 mm, Sarahan 14 mm, Sarkaghat 13 mm, and Mehre 10 mm.
The maximum temperatures rose by few notches and Una recorded a high of 35.2 degrees against 29.7 yesterday, Dharamshala was at 27.6 degrees, Shimla 26.4, Kalpa 24.8, and Manali 24.0 degrees.
The local MeT has predicted rains and thundershowers at few places in the lower, mid and higher hills over next six days.
