Sports centre for differently-abled in Karnataka: Min

Union Minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot today assured to develop a sports centre for persons with disabilities in Hubli-Dharwad area of Karnataka, if the state authorities provided adequate land for the purpose.
The Social Justice and Empowerment Minister was inaugurating a camp for free distribution of Assistive Aids and Appliances under the ADIP scheme of the Union Government at Dharwad in Karnataka, a statement here said today.
Pointing out that persons with disabilities are highly talented and integral part of human resource, he said, it is the social responsibility of everyone to support and encourage differently-abled people in order to bring them in the main stream of the society.
The statement also said that a total of 1,004 people with different kinds of disabilities were provided 2,502 numbers of aids and assistive devices manufactured and distributed by ALIMCO worth Rs 1.032 crore rpt Rs 1.032 crore under ADIP scheme in the camp.
These beneficiaries were pre-identified during the assessment camps conducted last year, it added.
