Cardamom prices were up 3.99 per cent to Rs 1,137.30 per kg in futures trade today as speculators built up fresh position amid rising domestic as well as export demand in the spot market and restricted supplies from producing regions.
Besides, tight supplies from producing regions also added support to the uptrend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in September spurted Rs 43.70 or 3.99 per cent to Rs 1,137.30 per kg in a business turnover of 2,091 lots.
Similarly, spice for delivery in October increased by Rs 43.20 or 3.99 per cent to Rs 1,123.70 per kg in 166 lots.
Traders said widening of positions by participants, driven by surge in demand at the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly kept cardamom prices higher at futures trade.
