Supported by pick up in domestic demand against restricted supplies from producing belts, chana prices were up by 1.46% to Rs 5,128 per quintal in futures trade today as participants built up fresh positions.

At National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in December rose Rs 74, or 1.46%, to Rs 5,128 per quintal with an open interest of 54,930 lots.

Likewise, the commodity for delivery in January traded higher by Rs 57, or 1.17%, to Rs 4,925 per quintal in 21,470 lots.

Analysts attributed rise in chana prices to pick up in demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing belts.
