Copper prices edged up by 0.08 per cent to Rs 435.50 per kg in futures trade today after participants created fresh positions, taking positive cues from the spot market on uptick in demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in far-month April traded higher by 35 paise, or 0.08 per cent to Rs 435.50 per kg in business turnover of 39 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in February edged up by 10 paise, or 0.02 per cent to Rs 431.80 per kg in 8,269 lots.
Market analysts attributed the rise in copper futures to building up of fresh positions by participants due to pick up in demand from consuming industries at the domestic physical markets.
