Spot demand lifts jeera futures by 0.81 pc
Press Trust of India New Delhi Jeera prices were up by 0.81 per cent to Rs 15,610 per quintal in futures trade today as traders enlarged positions, driven by pick up in demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing belts.
Some exports enquiries also supported the upside.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in April month rose by Rs 125, or 0.81 per cent, to Rs 15,610 per quintal with an open interest of 8,379 lots.
In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in far-month May gained Rs 120, or 0.76 per cent to Rs 15,850 per quintal in 6,894 lots.
Analysts said besides pick up in demand in the spot market, restricted supplies from producing regions supported the rise in jeera prices at futures trade.
