Mentha oil prices were up 1.28 per cent to Rs 864 per kg in futures trade today as speculators built up fresh position amid rising domestic and export demand in the spot market.
Further, restricted supplies from producing regions also added support to mentha oil prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in September rose by Rs 11, or 1.28 per cent, to Rs 864 per kg, in a trading volume of 81 lots.
Similarly, spice for delivery in October gained Rs 7.10, or 0.82 per cent, to Rs 871.90 per kg, in a business turnover of 284 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in mentha oil futures to uptick in domestic as well as exports demand in the spot market against tight stocks position on restricted arrivals from producing belts.
