Zinc prices rose 0.29 per cent to Rs 158 per kg in futures trading today as participants built up fresh positions, driven by an upsurge in demand at the domestic spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in October month inched up by 45 paise, or 0.29 per cent to Rs 158 per kg in business turnover of 997 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in November was trading higher by 45 paise, or 0.28 per cent to Rs 158.45 per kg in 365 lots.
Market analysts attributed the rise in zinc futures to fresh positions created by participants due to pick up in demand from consuming industries in the spot market.
