Spotted deer population increases

There are 75 spotted deer in Hazaribagh National Park, located along NH-33 Patna-Ranchi Road, 20 km from here, the latest census has revealed.
"The latest census shows increase in the population of the spotted deer (Cheetal) to 75 from just 35, which was recorded a couple of years ago," DFO (Wild Life Division), Hazaribagh, R N Mishra said today.
He said this was possible due to continuous vigil over their movement and meeting their requirements like food, land water.
The population of barking deer has gone up to 25 and Shambar has gone up to 4 from two, he said, adding that two panthers were also sighted in the Park.
"The growth of population of some birds like peacock (50) and vulture (210) are also very encouraging.
