The UGC has asked universities and colleges to involve youth to create awareness about digital payments on the occasion of the National Youth Day which is celebrated on January 12 every year.
In a letter to vice chancellors of all central universities, UGC Secretary Jaspal S Sandhu referred to a HRD Ministry letter forwarding a Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports communication in this regard.
Sandhu said the Youth and Sports Ministry has suggested that all the youth organisations should act in synchronised manner to mobilise people to carry out a chosen activity all over the country on the National Youth Day.
As part of the commemoration the day, each youth who is conversant with digital payments should educate at least ten persons in this regard, the UGC letter said.
It also suggested that each youth who is not conversant with this transaction method must learn at least one mode of digital payments on January 12.
Each youth organisation should organise training programmes across the country to the best of their ability on digital payments.
