San Antonio Spurs would be desperate to re-write the ending and ensure that, unlike last season, they keep a grip on the NBA Championships after grabbing a comfortable lead when they take on Miami Heat in Game 5 of the 2014 Finals here tomorrow.
Leading 3-1 in the seven-game series, the Spurs have a real chance of clinching their fifth NBA championship as they have as many as three games now. But the in-form Spurs would be keen to wrap it up here at their own backyard tomorrow itself and avenge their seven-game loss to Miami Heat last year.
The Spurs had let the initial 2-1 advantage slip away last year against the same opponents, but this time they look a more cohesive unit to let go the title for which they have waited for 12 months.
No team in Finals history ever has opened a 3-1 lead after four games and not gone on to win the championship. So far 31 teams have taken a 3-1 in the series, and all 31 have won the title.
The fans are also excited about their team's prospects in the championship and it was very much visible on the streets of San Antonio, where they could be seen marching with the Spurs flags, shouting 'Go Spurs Go'.
The Spurs, however, would be looking to guard against complacency when they face the two-time defending champions, featuring some of world's best basketball players in their ranks. The San Antonio unit need to stay focussed and hungry during the clash at the AT&T Centre here tomorrow.
