Spurt in crimes forces Bihar to recalibrate strategy

Kumar, who also holds the Home portfolio, has asked the police brass to develop intelligence networks at the grass root level and strengthen machinery at the police station level to contain crime.

Police department officials have admitted that crimes continued to rise despite best efforts of the state government to contain them.

Very recently he held a video conference with the district police chiefs, asking them to show leadership skills to deal with law and order.

The Director-General of Police Abhayanand also asked the police department to recalibrate strategy and identify those criminals who were out on bail and committing crime, in order to start a process for cancellation of their bail from various courts.

Police officials said as many as 79,768 cognizable offences had already taken place in Bihar in the first six months of this year including 1,865 murders, 8,427 theft, 5,687 serious riots and 2,546 kidnappings in the state.
