He said this after presenting the Detailed Project Report (DPR) on Vijayawada Metro after meeting Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu here, according to an official press release issued here today.
In the Vijayawada Metro DPR, Sreedharan mentioned that it includes two corridors namely, Corridor 1 (Pandit Nehru Bus Terminal-Penamaluru) of 12.76 km and Corridor 2 (Pandit Nehru Bus Terminal-Nidamanuru) of 13.27 km, the release said.
The total length including these two corridors is 26.03 km where the cost per kilometer comes up to Rs 209 crore, the DPR stated, the release said.
"Whether it is going to be elevated or not will only be decided during the capital development stage," Sreedharan waas quoted as saying in the release.

He added that the underground project per would cost Rs 500-600 crore per kilometre against Rs 209 crore per kilometre if it is elevated.
Explaining land requirements, the DPR mentions that 31.029 hectares of land (both government and private) will be required for the project. For the construction of Metro Rail Depot, 11.34 hectares of land will be required, the DPR stated, according to the release.
