New York Stock Exchange-listed Geradu Steel has appointed Sridhar Krishnamoorthy as the head of its Indian operation with immediate efect.
In his capacity as the Managing Director, he would be responsible for the entire business operation of the company, which has a three lakh tonnes per annum special bar quality (SBQ) steel plant at Tadipatri in Andhra Pradesh.
SBQs find application in automotive, defence, railways and related industries.
"Sridhar will be leading all aspects of our strategic business in India. As Gerdau ramps up our operations in India to supply the Indian market, we are confident that Sridhar will effectively lead the company forward," said Mark Anthony Marcucci, Executive Director, Gerdau Special Steel.
His experience and capability would be instrumental to execute Gerdau's strategic vision to be the leading special steel producer to meet India's growing market needs in energy, transportation, distribution, and infrastructure, he said.
Gerdau is in the business for 113 years. It has industrial operations in 14 countries in the Americas, Europe and Asia, which together represent an installed capacity of over 25 million tonnes per year.
An alumni of IIT Madras, Krishnamoorthy was working with an Abu Dhabi-based industrial group that owns Emirates Steel Industries in the UAE.
"I along with our skilled and committed team in India, look forward to working and ensuring engagement with all stakeholders...," Krishnamoorthy said.
