"It is a 1947-era film centering on partition. To work with Srijit for the first time and that too in such a role, I may sound cliche but really had never done such a role earlier," Rituparna told PTI here.
"My character is smeared with blood. She goes through lots of moral turpitude. This much I can share with you," Rituparna said when prodded further.
The Dahan actor says it is a challenge to portray characters which she is not in real life, but the Srijit film epitomizes the torture and sufferings women face during war and violent times.
In another fulfilling role, in a contrasting genre film of family drama, of values and sentiments, Rituparna portrays the celluloid daughter of thespian Soumitra Chatterjee in upcoming Belaseshe of Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay and Nandita Roy.
Rituparna was wearing a mix of Benarasi, Kanjivaram and wore that in lehenga style at the new wedding outfit launch for women from 30s to 45 years.
