The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) is probing alleged serious anomalies in physical endurance test by Staff Selection Commission for recruitment of constables in central armed police force, Assam Rifles, SSB, NIA and other allied para-military services.
The physical endurance test was held at Dirang in West Kameng district on May 26.
The probe was launched following a letter by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju to CRPF Director General, demanding setting up of an inquiry committee for a thorough probe into the allegations, official sources said here today.
The CRPF director general then constituted a one-man inquiry committee and SSB Deputy Inspector General, Sector Headquarters Tezpur, L K Gohain yesterday visited the 30th SSB battalion, Dirang in Arunachal Pradesh for the probe.
Gohain, who collected statements from SSB and the candidates, said, "Conducting the race in an open track similar to cross-country race and making the candidates run in the afternoon instead of morning hour are some of the key issues."
He said he would submit the report to the union ministry of home affairs for necessary action.
Meanwhile, in case of re-conduct of the test, the candidates have requested that the test be conducted at Sangey Lhaden Sports Academy at Itanagar, where adequate facilities are available, Gohain added.
