"This property marks in Mumbai in partnership with Pallazzio Hotels & Leisure marks the entry of St. Regis in India and South Asia," St. Regis Hotels & Resorts Global Brand Leader Jim Petrus told reporters here.
"We want to have the brand in gateway cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, New York and London that are appealing affluent consumers. For the global presence of the St. Regis brand we are planning to spend over USD 2.5 billion in next 15 months," Petrus said.
"The introduction of St. Regis to India marks a significant milestone for the brand's expansion in South Asia, and Mumbai displays a robust demand for high-end hospitality from affluent travellers from all around the globe," Petrus said.
In India, Starwood has already signed a deal in Delhi and is looking at opportunities in Bengaluru and Goa, he added.
Dilip Puri, Managing Director India and regional Vice President - South Asia, Starwood Hotels & Resorts said the global hospitality group has overall 37 properties under its several brands in the pipeline in India, of which 10-12 hotels will open in 12-18 months time.
