Stabbed cop succumbs to injuries in Gujarat

A 46-year-old Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Gujarat police, who was stabbed allegedly by a father-son duo two months back, today succumbed to his injuries at a hospital here.
Keshod police inspector K V Chadappa said ASI Jiva Ninama, who was attached with Keshod police station in Junagarh district, died at Jivraj Mehta Hospital here, where he was undergoing treatment since over a month.
"After he was attacked in March, Ninama was first admitted to Junagadh Civil Hospital and later to the hospital here" said Chadappa.
"In March, Ninama and one of our constables went to Navjanvav village of Keshod tehsil to record statement of one Pravin Darbar and his son Ashok Darbar in connection with illegal sale of liquor," he added.
As soon as they reached their house, both Pravin and Ashok got angry on Ninama and stabbed him on his back, said Chadappa.
After the incident, both the accused were arrested on charges of attempt to murder and are presently behind bars.
Now, we will file a case of murder against them, the officer added.
