India had voted against Sri Lanka on three previous occasions due to the "pressure" exerted by his party, which was then a partner of UPA. However, the government was boldened and abstained from voting today as DMK was not in the government, he told an election rally here.
Some political parties, who were always politicising the issue, should know that it was his party which fought for the right and cause of Tamils in Sri Lanka, he claimed.
Attacking ruling AIADMK, the DMK leader said the party had promised to make Tamil Nadu a power-cut free state within three months of coming to power but had now made the state "power-less".
He also accused the Jayalalithaa Government of not taking proper steps for new investment.
Admitting that there was power cut "for two hours" during DMK rule, for which the voters had punished it in the 2011 assemly elections, he asked the voters what punishment they proposed to give the AIADMK for extending the power cut to nearly 14 hours a day.
