Star Health reports Rs 2,000 cr premium in 2015-16

Star Health and Allied Insurance today reported a premium growth of 36 per cent to Rs 2,000 crore during 2015-16.
The country's first standalone health insurance company had clocked Rs 1,470 crore worth of premium in 2014-2015.
"Star Health Insurance has crossed Gross Written Premium target of Rs 2,000 crore for 2015-16, registering a growth rate of more than 36 per cent for the year," the company said in a statement.
According to the insurance company, new business premium stood at Rs 500 crore in the last fiscal.
The Chennai-based firm covers a total of 69 lakh consumers.
It has a capital base of Rs 549 crore, 300 branch offices and more than 7,600 network hospitals to serve its customers across the country.
