The signature costume, which Princess Leia wore after she was captured by Jabba the Hutt on the desert planet Tatooine, was purchased for nearly USD 100,000.
It had a letter of authenticity from designer Richard Miller and came with a collar and some chain. It opened at USD 80,000 and eventually went under the hammer to an anonymous bidder for USD 16,000 above the starting price, reported Ace Showbiz.
Other previous Hollywood treasures that fetched six-figure winning bids included George Reeves' Superman costume USD 216,000; Harrison Ford's signature screen used "Indiana Jones" bullwhip USD 204,000; Norma Shearer's 1930 Best Actress Academy Award USD 180,000, and the General Lee car from "The Dukes of Hazzard" USD 120,000.
