Stars celebrate Barack Obama's re-election

Obama, 51, defeated his Republican rival Mitt Romney in a closely contested poll today.

Obama's celebrity supporters flocked to Twitter to voice their delight after the result, with singer Cher saying, "I'm so happy! This is one of the great nights of my life. Tears are streaming down my face! Women we have a champion."

"Breathe. Sigh. Relief," singer Ricki Lake posted.

Former Despearte Housewivs star Eva Longoria said, "Me and my friends celebrating! I'm on tears! Moving the country forward! Obama."

Pop star Katy Perry, who appeared at an Obama event, also expressed her happiness saying, "Done and Dusted!"

'Hulk' actor Mark Ruffalo said, "I am so proud to be an American. I love our country and everyone in it. Even those who do not share my beliefs."

Actor Zachary Quinto, who manned the phones for Obama in Chicago, Illinois on Tuesday, told his followers, "Never been more fired up in my adult life."

Pop star Mariah Carey congratulated Obama saying, "Congratulations to our beloved President Barack Obama, our spectacular First Lady Michelle Obama & the adorable Malia & Sasha. We love you."
