Startup cells, dedicated helpline for entrepreneurs launched

To provide a helping hand to young entrepreneurs, KSIDC, the promotional arm of the Kerala Government, has launched Startup cells at its offices in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.
Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC), having established itself as a key enabler for medium and large companies, launched the Startup cells yesterday aiming to provide new initiatives for fostering growth of startups and new enterprises of the young entrepreneurs, a press release said.
Over the past few months KSIDC had started receiving a steady stream of enquiries from startups in the state. These startups include both home grown enterprises as well as young Kerala entrepreneurs from outside the state desirous of starting enterprises in the state.
Building on the platform created by the state's Student Entrepreneurship Policy of 2012 the State Government and KSIDC have announced a variety of initiatives to make Kerala a preferred destination among young entrepreneurs.
The Young Entrepreneurship Development Programme is a unique initiative launched two years back by Kerala Governemnt and it has received overwhelming response.
KSIDC will be organising Young Entrepreneurs Summit (YES), Kerala's flagship event to establish Kerala as a vibrant Entrepreneurial State, on Sept 12 (Kerala Entrepreneurship Day) this year. Chief Minister, Oommen chandy, had earlier unveiled the logo of YES.
To attract high quality innovation and entrepreneurship, KSIDC is in the process of establishing a Knowledge Network linking centres of excellence like Sri Chitra Thirunal Institute of Science & Technology, Tropical Botanical Gardens & Research Institute, Kerala University for Fisheries & Oceanic Studies and Amritha Institute of Science & Technology.
