The famous horse market at Sarangkheda in tribal-dominated Nandurbar district is set to get bigger with the state government deciding to build a "horse museum" there.
A press release from the government said that chief minister Devendra Fadnavis performed the ground-breaking ceremony for the proposed museum yesterday. Local MP Hina Gavit, minister Jaykumar Raval and others were present during the ceremony.
The release added that the CM said the museum and other improvements would attract tourists and create job opportunities for the local youth.
Fadnavis also witnessed performances of the horses at the market, said officials.
The horse market, called the "Chetak Festival" in these parts, is a 300-year old tradition, said officials.
