Talking to reporters after a meeting with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders, Chandy said he would take up the issue with the neighbouring state on Madani's prolonged imprisonment without trial.
"The state government will again approach Karnataka seeking Madani's release. He should get all the rights as an Indian citizen," Chandy told the delegation.
Madani was arrested by Karnataka police in August, 2010 and has been lodged in Bangalore Central Prison since then.
