Statehood day celebrations to get beyond the confines of Doon
Press Trust of India Dehradun Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat today asked officials to take statehood day celebrations beyond the confines of Dehradun this year.
At a meeting with culture department officials, Rawat asked them to hold events not only in Dehradun but also at Jageshwar in Almora, and Tehri to celebrate the state's 15th foundation day.
He asked them to organise events and competitions showcasing the state's unique cultural heritage and cuisine on November 6, 7 and 8 at Jageshwar, Tehri and Dehradun respectively and honour their winners at the main programme to be held in Dehradun on November 9 to mark the occasion, an official release here said.
Describing Ramlilas as an integral part of the state's culture he asked officials to prepare an action plan to promote the tradition by giving a cash incentive of Rs 1 lakh each to Ramlila companies which are over 100 years old, Rs 75000 to those which are 50-100 years old and Rs 50,000 to those which are 25 to 50 years old.
