The BJP would hold a statewide agitation if the Karnataka government fails to hand over the Wakf Board property 'embezzlement'case to CBI within a fortnight, party spokesperson Anwar Manippady said today.
The government should also table the Lokayukta report on the case inthe state Assembly so that people should know the facts, the former minority commission chairperson told reporters.
The Wakf board has about 54,000 acres of property, whose market value could besomewhere between Rs 55 lakh crore to Rs 60 lakh crore, he said.
"However, at least 28,000 acres has been gobbled up, whose market value currently is about Rs 25 lakh crore," Manippady said.
As the minority commission chairman during the BJP governmentin Karnataka, Manippady had submitted a 7,000-page report onthe "embezzlement" of Wakf properties in the state.
These properties include three medical colleges, 15 engineering colleges, 122 professional colleges and 86 residential schools, he said.

Thegovernment had given the report for investigation to theLokayukta, Manippady said.
The Lokayukta submitted its report in March 2016 but then chief minister Siddaramaiah suppressed the report, Manippady alleged.
The BJP spokesperson said the government should hand over the case to CBI and the Lokayukta report tabled inthe House. Otherwise, the BJP would hold a statewide agitation, he added.
